Open my eyes so that I can see those who are in need of help, O Lord.

Let each of us please his neighbour for his good, leading to edification. Romans 15:2. Gracious God, I ask You to help me keep my priorities straight. You have created me to love people and use things. It’s easy, however, to reverse that order – to love things and use people. Or even worse, to sometimes use people as if they were things. Help me not to lose a sense of the sacredness of the people around me. Often I become insensitive to people’s needs and use them as means to accomplish my needs. Open my eyes so that I can see those who are in need of help, and open my heart and make me willing to help. In this quiet moment, I picture the people in my life. Dilate into sharp focus the face of each of them. Help me truly to see Him or her. Now, place in my mind, loving thoughts about what I could do today to lift burdens, express empathy, or inspire courage. I dedicate myself to the specific words and actions You guide me. Don’t let me forget. Give me the will, to put my prayers into action… through Christ, who taught us to do what love demands in Jesus Name I pray Amen. Shalom.
