The Lord is gracious and full of compassion, slow to anger and great in mercy. The Lord is good to all, and His tender mercies are over all His works. Psalm 145:8-9.
Gracious God, You give me so much more than I deserve in blessings, and withhold what I deserve for my lack of faithfulness and obedience. I praise You for Your loving kindness and mercy. With a fresh realization of Your unqualified grace to me, I recognize my need to be to the people of my life what You have been to me.
Help me to give mercy as i have received it so generously from You. I think of people who need my forgiveness, another chance, encouragement, and affirmation. At times I punish others with my purgatorial pouts, leaving them to wonder about what they can do to regain my approval. Instead, Father, help me to be an agent of reconciliation and renewal. May grace overcome my grudges and joy diffuse my judgements.
Indeed, may this be a day of new beginnings, in which I take the initiative to reach out to others in genuine friendship in Jesus Name. Amen. Praise the Lord Hallelujah.
